2010 HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER STRING WORKSHOP The High School Division of the Summer String Workshop is a 5-day intensive program designed to bring string students together for a motivating week of music-making. The curriculum includes chamber orchestra and sectionals, chorus, world drumming, and participation in small chamber ensembles. The Summer Workshop invites distinguished guest artists each year to be part of the faculty to work with these students. The final concert features performances by the chamber orchestra, chorus, and small chamber ensembles.
2010 ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER STRING WORKSHOP Junior Strings Program - Ages 7-10 The Elementary and Middle School Summer String Workshop is a 5-day workshop designed to bring young string students together for an inspiring week of solo and ensemble playing. Students play in recitals, masterclasses and ensembles. The curriculum also offers classes in world drumming, chorus, and music theory. The Summer Workshop welcomes a diversity of Pittsburgh’s most distinguished teachers and musicians to work with these young students. Students are selected by age and skill level to one of two programs, the Junior Strings Program or Young Artist’s Program. 2010 Pre-College Music Program The Pre-College Music Program offers a unique view of the life of a music student at Carnegie Mellon in a supportive environment of study and performance. It is an ideal opportunity to experience a world-class conservatory program and discover your potential for a career in music. Instruction is challenging, creativity is expected and the responsibility of making music and training musicians is taken very seriously. Coupled with the rich cultural life of the city of Pittsburgh and varied campus activities, the program is an extraordinary way for young musicians to see what college is like.
