Private String Instruction:
- Private lessons are available for violin, viola, cello, & bass students ages 6-18 yrs old.
- Lessons are offered weekdays after school & Saturdays.
- Students sign up for a weekly private lesson. Lesson duration is based upon student's level of experience.

Recitals:
- Students are offered the opportunity to perform with piano at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters.
- We encourage all students to participate.
Classes available:
- The Music Preparatory School at Carnegie Mellon University offers a comprehensive program of courses students may enroll in.
- Classes are available on Saturdays on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University.
- Classes include: Group classes for violin, viola, & cello, Musicianship, Theory, Solfege, Eurhythmics, and Chamber Music.

- To sign up for lessons, call 412.268.3667 or email: cmuprep-southhills@andrew.cmu.edu
- Students must register at the beginning of each semester.
- We offer Fall, Winter, & Summer semesters.
- Students may register after the semester begins with the permission of the private instructor.
Tuition:
- Tuition is due in full by the first week of classes.
- A late fee of $25 will be assessed after the second week of class.
- We accept cash, check, or Master Card/Visa/American Express.
- See registration forms for lesson and class fees.
Discounts:
- Siblings: When 3 or more siblings enroll for private lessons, a 5 percent discount is applied to the overall tuition.
- Multiple private lessons: When a student enrolls in both the string and piano programs, a 15 percent discount is applied to the overall tuition.
- Discount applies to students enrolled in lessons at the South Hills Satellite School and/or Carnegie Mellon University.
Attendance:
Parents/Students should contact their private teacher directly about absences.
Extra Lessons:
Extra lessons may be arranged between the teacher and student. Fees will be pro-rated based on current tuition, payable to the Preparatory School Office.
Parking and Classroom Information:
Parking is available in the lot across from the Mt. Lebanon Library on Castle Shannon Blvd. Enter building on Washington Rd. Pass the sanctuary and enter the doors labeled “Christian Education Center”. Walk up 1.5 flights of stairs to the top floor. Go through the double doors at the top of the stairwell and the Choir room is on the right. Classrooms are located off of the Choir Room.
