The Carnegie Mellon University School of Music holds auditions on campus in Pittsburgh, in Los Angeles, and in New York City throughout January and February. Early Decision undergraduate applicants will schedule individual audition times in November. 

On Campus:

  • Audio Recording & Production (certificate): scheduled individually
  • Bagpipes: January 23, 2016
  • Bassoon: January 30, 2016 
  • Cello: January 30, 2016 and February 14, 2016
  • Clarinet: January 30, 2016 and February 14, 2016
  • Collaborative Piano (MM): February 14, 2016
  • Composition: January 30, 2016 and February 13, 2016
  • Double Bass: January 23, 2016
  • Euphonium: February 13, 2016
  • Flute: February 13, 2016 and February 14, 2016
  • Guitar: January 30, 2016
  • Harp: January 23, 2016 
  • Horn: February 14, 2016 
  • Music & Technology (MS): by recording only
  • Music Education (MM and certificate): February 15, 2016
  • Oboe: January 23, 2016 and February 13, 2016
  • Percussion: January 30, 2016 and February 13, 2016
  • Piano: January 30, 2016
  • Piano Pedagogy (certificate): February 30, 2016

*Undergraduate Technology and Musicology applicants will submit their media as a recorded audition/portfolio. A live interview is not offered.

Los Angeles:

  • February 6, 2017  Location: The Colburn School

New York:

  • February 3, 2017  Location: National Opera Center at Opera America 

*Composition, Collaborative Piano, Flute, Percussion, Music Education, Musicology (BXA), and Music & Technology are not eligible for US regional audition sites. Vocalists must bring their own accompanist to regional sites.
