The Carnegie Mellon University School of Music holds auditions on campus in Pittsburgh, in Los Angeles, and in New York City throughout January and February. Early Decision undergraduate applicants will schedule individual audition times in November. 

On Campus:

  • Audio Recording & Production (certificate): scheduled individually
  • Bagpipes: January 22, 2017
  • Bassoon: February 11, 2017 
  • Cello: January 22, 2017 and February 12, 2017
  • Clarinet: To be determined
  • Collaborative Piano (MM): February 12, 2017
  • Composition: January 28, 2017 and February 11, 2017
  • Double Bass: February 11, 2017
  • Euphonium: February 11, 2017
  • Flute: February 11, 2016 and February 12, 2017
  • Guitar: January 28, 2017
  • Harp: January 22, 2017 
  • Horn: February 12, 2017 
  • Music & Technology (MS): by recording only
  • Music Education (MM and certificate): February 20, 2017

*Undergraduate Technology and Musicology applicants will submit their media as a recorded audition/portfolio. A live interview is not offered.

*Composition, Collaborative Piano, Flute, Percussion, Music Education, Musicology (BXA), and Music & Technology are not eligible for regional audition sites. Vocalists must bring their own accompanist to regional sites.
