Audition/Portfolio Review Dates

The Carnegie Mellon University School of Music holds auditions on campus in Pittsburgh, in New York City, Miami, Houston, and in Los Angeles throughout January and February. Early Decision undergraduate applicants will schedule individual audition times in November. 

On Campus:

  • Artist Diploma: February 28, 2015
  • Audio Recording & Production (certificate): will be scheduled individually
  • Bagpipes: January 25, 2015
  • Bassoon: January 24, 2015 and Jauary 31, 2015
  • Cello: January 31, 2015 and February 1, 2015
  • Clarinet: January 24, 2015 and Jauary 31, 2015
  • Collaborative Piano (MM): February 1, 2015 and February 15, 2015
  • Composition: January 31, 2015 and February 7, 2015
  • Double Bass: January 24, 2015 and February 8, 2015  
  • Euphonium: February 7, 2015 and February 14, 2015
  • Flute: February 14, 2015 and February 15, 2015
  • Guitar: February 1, 2015 and February 15, 2015
  • Harp: January 25, 2015 and February 14, 2015 
  • Horn: January 25, 2015 and February 8, 2015 
  • Music & Technology (MS): by recording only
  • Music Education (MM and certificate): February 16, 2015
  • Oboe: January 24, 2015 and February 8, 2015
  • Organ: will be scheduled individually
  • Percussion: January 31, 2015 and February 7, 2015
  • Piano: February 1, 2015
  • Piano Pedagogy (certificate): February 1, 2015
  • Piano Maintenance (certificate): will be shceduled individually
  • Saxophone: February 7, 2015 and February 14, 2015
  • Trombone (tenor and bass): February 8, 2015 and February 15, 2015
  • Trumpet: January 25, 2015 and February 8, 2015
  • Tuba: February 1, 2015 and February 8, 2015
  • Viola: February 1, 2015 and February 15, 2015
  • Violin: January 25, 2015 and February 15, 2015
  • Voice (undergradute): January 24, 2015, January 25, 2015, February 7, 2015, and February 8, 2015
  • Voice (graduate and certificate): January 24, 2015 and February 7, 2015

*Music Education MM or Certificate applicants can contact music-admissions@andrew.cmu.edu for alternate Monday interview/audition times.

*Undergraduate Technology and Musicology applicants will submit their media to the audition dropbox as a recorded audition/portfolio. A live interview is not offered.

Miami

  • February 17 2015  Location: New World Symphony Campus

New York:

  • February 20 2015  Location: National Opera Center at Opera America 

*Composition, Collaborative Piano, Flute, Percussion, Music Education, Musicology (BXA), and Music & Technology are not eligible for US regional audition sites. Vocalists must bring their own accompanist to regional sites.
